Artizlab Classic 35mm f/1.4

I’ve been shooting with the Artizlab Classic 35mm f/1.4 for a little while now, and honestly, this lens surprised me in all the right ways. The design is clearly inspired by the Leica Summilux 35mm pre-ASPH v2. It has that classic, compact, almost jewel like look, but don’t mistake it for a clone. The optics are very much its own thing.

Wide open at f/1.4, the lens delivers a mix I didn’t expect: modern sharpness with vintage character. Center sharpness is already strong, edges hold up impressively well, and unlike the original pre-ASPH Lux, there’s significantly less vignetting. Stopping down to f/2.8 brings it into “tack sharp” territory where it’s genuinely crisp across the frame.

The bokeh falloff is smooth, clean, and has that gentle fade that feels organic rather than busy. What really got me, though, is that this lens does carry a bit of that classic Leica glow. It has that soft, dreamy rendering on highlights without sacrificing clarity. It’s not a hazy, low-contrast glow; it’s the good kind, the one that adds mood without making your photos look like they were taken through a fogged window.

Overall, the Artizlab Classic 35mm f/1.4 is perfect for anyone who wants the soul of a vintage lens but the usability and sharpness of modern glass. It’s a really enjoyable blend of old and new, and for the price, it hits way above expectations.
